In this post, we'll guide you through the setup process, from pairing your device to linking it with your beloved green friend. Let's dive in!

Pairing Your Device

When you first get your hands on the smart plant monitor, you'll need to pair it with your WiFi network and user account

Pairing: Go the the add device screen on the app and turn on your device. When your first get your device it should already be in pairing mode. You can pair your device as many times as needed, provided it's in pairing mode. Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xOJ6KVBFxA4

Post-Pairing: Once paired, the monitor's light will stay on briefly as it updates itself. Then, it will turn off automatically. ** Important: Please do not to press the power button during this time.**

Due to certification costs, EarthOne has opted out of providing charging adapters for this first version of the Plant Monitor. EarthOne Plant Monitors can be charged using standard 5W Power Adapters (5V, 1A).

Please see the image below for an example of a compatible power adapter.

||| **EarthOne Plant Monitors will not work with Fast Charging or High Wattage Power Adapters. **

You will know that this is the case if a RED/GREEN LED does not come on when connected to a charging cube. If this is the case, please find a compatible Power Adapter with similar specifications mentioned above.

What does the plant monitor measure?

Our plant monitor measures soil moisture, light intensity, ambient temperature, and humidity. These four factors are the most critical to your plant’s well-being and growth. With these, we are then able to calculate your plant's vapor pressure deficit (VPD), which is a key indicator of plant health, as well as growing degree days (GDD), which is a key indicator of plant growth.

How do I set up my plant monitor?

Setting up your plant monitor is super easy! Simply download the app, and follow the instructions to connect your device to your Wi-Fi network. Once connected, you can link your plant monitor to your plant and start receiving real-time data and insights! More instructions.

Can I use this plant monitor with more than one plant?

You can use one plant monitor for multiple plants by linking and unlinking in the app. We do recommend 1 per plant as the device learns from your plant the longer you keep it with one.

Can I use the plant monitor outdoors?

Our monitor can be used outdoors given a good Wi-Fi connection and a protected area such as a porch, terrace, etc.

What types of soil/substrate does the plant monitor work with?

Our sensor works with most substrates. We do not recommend using it with substrates that have too many air pockets (ie. pebbles, leca, etc.) as it may affect the readings.
